FERS Showcased at ECCA2025 Conference

The Future Earth Research School recently took part in the European Climate Change Adaptation Conference 2025, the leading European forum for exchanging practical solutions, sharing knowledge, and fostering collaboration on climate adaptation. ECCA2025 was organized by CMCC Foundation and JPI Climate, within Horizon Europe MAGICA Project.

Every two years, ECCA brings together participants from across Europe and beyond, representing diverse sectors of society, to inspire, learn, and drive transformative change. The 2025 edition was held in Rimini from June 16–18, featuring 4 plenary sessions, 39 parallel sessions, and 9 side events, among other activities. The event brought together 1,052 participants from 69 countries worldwide, including 645 in-person attendees in Rimini and 407 joining online.

ECCA2025 provided an excellent platform to highlight FERS’ mission and upcoming initiatives. FERS was featured at the CMCC Foundation booth, where visitors could learn about the program’s interdisciplinary educational opportunities and initiatives.

At the booth and in other key areas of the conference, details were shared about upcoming FERS courses, including:

  • The 2025 Winter School on Sea Level Rise (more information to be released soon);

  • The 2026 Summer School on “Climate Change Law and Science: Exploring the Interplay between Legal Systems and Climate Science”, scheduled for July 20–25, 2026.

We were especially happy to meet some FERS alumni attending the conference in Rimini. Building resilient communities starts with education, shared values, and lasting relationships. In the face of climate change and adaptation, these essential elements are more vital than ever.
